Luisium Palace and Garden

Luisium Palace is situated just outside Dessau. The dreamy property, used as a private retreat, was a gift of Prince Franz of Anhalt-Dessau to his wife Louise, whom the palace was named after. The largely originally furnished building was once called ‘Temple of Female Virtues’ because of the ceiling decoration of its banquet hall. All the rooms are painted elegantly in the neo-classical style and decorated with stucco. The English-style palace garden contains a number of neo-gothic and neo-classical garden architectures like the Snake House, the Orangery, the Gate Houses and the Ruined Arch.
