The former residential building, built for the humanist and reformer Philipp Melanchthon in 1536, is known as one of the most beautiful buildings of Wittenberg. In 2013 the Melanchthon House was reopened and expanded by a modern annex building with additional space for the permanent exhibition „Philipp Melanchthon: Life – Work – Legacy“ including Melanchthon’s study and death room as well as numerous manuscripts, prints, paintings and sculpture.
